Of course they do! |
Youth of Today TV Challenge Note 1: Sadly the term youth conjures up negative thoughts in the minds of most adults; the media reserve the word for derogative remarks and as a nation we are quick to criticise, yet slow to acknowledge the achievements of our youngsters. In truth it is a question of perception - our perception. Note 2: As more young people pass through our university system it becomes ever harder for individuals to stand out and warrant landing a foot on that vital first rung of the career ladder. The ever increasing number of degree applicants also challenges employers, for like it or not, even the best filtering systems exclude candidates who would have gone on to impress. Stepping Stone Apprenticeship seeks to address both of these issues. Over terms of up to six months, apprentices will be given the chance to perform the management functions they studied at university in order to help us with the progressive rollout and day to day running of this initiative. As skills are honed (educational theory confronts practical reality) Personal Portfolios will record the graduate’s progress, the tasks undertaken, achievements, difficulties, feed back and general development.
Personal Portfolios offer an unparalleled opportunity to showcase determination, aptitude and creativity to potential employers and enhance the likelihood of graduates securing top jobs - hence the term - Stepping Stone Apprenticeship. Of course our Personal Potential PARTNERS are also prospective employers and we hope they benefit from a flow of young people whose spirit and energy mark them out as deserving serious consideration.
By asking our Personal Potential PARTNERS to operate an Open Door Policy to receiving Personal Portfolios we enable our Stepping Stone Apprenticeship to set a new benchmark in bringing our brightest high flyers in contact with Britain's brightest companies. By filming our current generation of graduates displaying such initiative, aptitude and drive and making that available to the national TV network, we should strike a positive blow for the real Youth of Today!
